Do I need a visa to Thailand?
Since December 2024, Thailand has introduced an electronic entry permit (ETA). It is disposable and free. In case of a repeat trip, this permit must be issued again. This permit should be fully operational in June 2025. You must apply for an ETA on the official website thaievisa.go.th .
Visa-free regime is in effect for citizens of many countries, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, as well as countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Australia and a number of other countries. Tourists from these countries can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days with the possibility of extending it for another 30 days through the migration service. However, it is important to remember that even with visa-free entry, you must obtain an ETA.
The most popular types of visas are:
- Tourist visa,
- Work visa,
- Business visa,
- Student visa,
- The Digital Nomad Visa for remote workers and freelancers is issued for up to 5 years.
Since July 15, 2024, changes in migration policy have been announced, among which is the approval of five—year visas for digital nomads. Thailand attracts digital nomads with excellent infrastructure, affordable and high-speed Internet, especially in large cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the islands. The cost of living is relatively low, which allows you to work and travel comfortably.
