Items included in the list are prohibited from being produced, imported, stored and distributed.Manufacturers of plastic products asked the authorities to postpone the ban in order to prevent the loss of jobs at high rates of inflation, but the Indian government refused them.According to the Indian authorities, 4.1 million tons of plastic waste were produced in the country in 2020.
