Lonja de la Seda

The Lonja de la Seda building is one of the best examples of Gothic architecture and one of the main attractions of the city. In the 15th century, Valencia reached the peak of its heyday as one of the most important trading centers in Europe. At the end of the century, it was decided to build a special building in the city where trade could take place. This is how the silk exchange or silk market appeared.

Today, this secular building is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, where the commercial life of the city boils like a century ago. You can go shopping here, or enjoy the interior of the building for free, which impresses with shiny marble floors and spiral columns that turn into a vaulted ceiling. Its arches look like a palm branch. You can see the principles of fair trade written in gold Latin letters.

Free entry: every Sunday.
