China has expanded the list of countries for which visa-free transit is valid for 72/144 hours
China has expanded the list of countries for which visa—free transit is valid for 72/144 hours – Norway has been added to it. Now the list consists of 54 countries.
According to the State Administration of Immigration Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (NIA), citizens of these countries can stay in 23 cities of China during a trip to third countries for no more than 72 or 144 hours, without obtaining entry visas, provided that they have an interline ticket (connecting pass). During their visa-free stay in China, they are allowed to engage in short-term activities such as tourist trips and business visits.
The list of countries whose citizens can use visa-free transit within 72/144 hours in Chinese cities:
• 25 Schengen countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
• 15 other European countries: Russia, Great Britain, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Monaco and Belarus.
• Six countries of the Americas: USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.
• Two Oceanic countries: Australia and New Zealand.
• Six Asian countries: South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, UAE and Qatar.
Currently, the 72-hour visa-free transit policy is in effect in three Chinese cities such as Changshu, Harbin and Guilin.
The 144-hour visa-free transit policy is implemented in 20 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jieyang, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi Jinping. An, Xiamen, Wuhan and Kunming.
