“By order of the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan dated December 27, 2023, changes were made to the rules for paying the tourist fee for foreigners, according to which a zero rate will apply throughout Kazakhstan,” the message says.

In October 2023, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev announced the suspension of the tourist fee from foreigners.
“Despite the fact that until today, about 500 million tenge has been collected in the country since the introduction of bed tax, it was decided to suspend the operation of bed tax. The order has now been amended in a very short time. And the bed tax, or tourist tax, will be suspended,” Yerkinbayev said at a press conference.
He clarified that this fee “creates certain inconveniences for both domestic businesses and incoming foreign tourists.”
Since January 1, 2022, bed tax has been introduced in Kazakhstan — a mandatory tourist fee from foreign guests. The fee was not charged in 2022, and at the beginning of 2023, rates ranging from 1 to 5% of the cost of living were set nationwide.
